Tolkien (and other loves of my life)

Obsession of Choice: A Better Blog with Fresher Content

If you follow me on Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook or any other such places, you’ve probably noticed that I’ve been focusing more on Tolkien and Tolkien-related research of late. While a lot of what I am researching/writing about currently has to do with Sauron, it isn’t limited to him (sorry, dude: I know you like to be the unseen center of attention).

After a decade hiatus, I began digging back into Tolkien again in 2015. Between then and now I’ve generated a lot of writing. Some of it has been posted to this blog. Far, far more has been posted on Tumblr. And even more than that remains unpublished anywhere (and not just the Tolkien fanfiction, though there is that, too). Tumblr is chaotic, hard to search, cluttered with a lot of shorter (and often unrelated) content and less fit for longer, more scholarly work. Therefore, I’ve decided to start transferring some of that Tumblr content here.

If you see past-dated posts going up, then they are pieces I’ve transferred (sometimes with a touch of editing) from there over to this blog where I hope I can share them more easily and with a wider audience. Meanwhile, I plan to start publishing more new content related to Tolkien (and other loves of my life) in the near future. If that sounds like something you’re interested in, scroll down to the footer, enter your email address under “connect” and hit “subscribe.” That should send you updates whenever a new post goes up here. You can also click the Facebook and Twitter icons just below that form field and follow me on those respective social media sites.

Lastly, you may also notice that I have a new URL. If you were already a subscriber (thank you!), I think I have successfully transferred your subscription from the old WordPress subdomain to here on the back end, meaning you shouldn’t have to take any action. If you see something not working, have questions, or comments you’d rather share more privately, click the email icon in the footer.

How exciting! I am looking forward to reading your work (though I made an RSS feed for you on my Dreamwidth–SO OLD SKOOL, amirite?): https://cameron-obsession-feed.dreamwidth.org/

Oh, nice! I think I can do something like that with WordPress as well, but I’ve never tried it before. I’ll have to see what I can rig up. I’ve never taken the time to put together a custom feed of blogs I like before. I suppose now is the time!
